CARE Lived Experience Collective members: Andy

Hello there! I’m Dr Andrew Woodhead

I’m living with Dementia. I’m a big advocate for co-production, and I volunteer my time as a dementia voice, a global dementia ambassador, and the UK Dementia Ambassador for Wales. As a FRSA and FRSPH, I also speak at motivational events and provide advice to various national health, care, and support organisations, including Reading Well’s ‘Books on Prescription’ initiative, Marie Curie, Lleisiau Dementia, Public Health Wales Improvement Cymru, the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust, and Alzheimer’s Society Cymru.

I am member of the Post Graduate Board of Studies at the Heath Hospital in Cardiff, a member of the Cardiff University’s CARE, and I sit on the Dementia Board for CTM UHB. I am a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant with Cardiff, Bangor, Kings College London, Cambridge, and York Universities, where I’m working on studies like Allied Health Professionals (AHP) and initiatives to improve dementia support and palliative care. I’m also a guest university lecturer, working to enhance person-centred care and human rights. I’m passionate about supporting care initiatives for all conditions, assistive technologies, diverse communities, LGBTQ, mental health, loneliness, palliative care, and hidden disabilities. I am proud to be a Member of the CARE Collective and the opportunities for real Research progress it provides.
