Hello, my name is Kirti

I am currently a full-time unpaid carer for my husband. I have also cared for many other family members over the years.
Currently, I am working as a volunteer at Women Connect First, where I help with translating, interpreting, befriending, and companionship.
I have previously worked with Action on Hearing as a befriender and helped with isolation. I’ve also helped in the same way at the Alzheimer’s Society. I’ve volunteered in the office at Age Concern and Equality First.
I am a mother and grandmother. I like gardening, travelling, and spending quality time with my family. I speak five languages – Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, and Swahili. I enjoy learning about different cultures and religions. It is important to me that spaces, projects and initiatives are culturally sensitive, welcoming, and accepting.
The reason I am part of this collective is to help people and to give back. I like meeting new people and learning about new cultures (including research culture!). I enjoy getting out and about, pushing myself, and keeping active.
