The CARE Professional Advisory Forum is a key advisory group in our research centre. It is made up of practitioners, carers and other professionals from a range of different backgrounds within the adult social care sector.
Members of the group share their guidance and feedback on research topics and priorities based on their experience of working in the adult care field. They help us shape and improve research, ensuring that it is relevant and impactful for all those using and providing care and support.

The Professional Advisory Forum’s goals are to:
- Provide a platform for the social care workforce – including professionals, practitioners, and carers – to collaborate with academics and researchers in discussing and shaping social care research.
- Strengthen connections between CARE and the social care community, deepening CARE’s understanding of the sector’s needs, priorities, and emerging trends.
- Offer valuable insights and perspectives from social care practice, contributing knowledge that enhances the quality, relevance, and impact of social care research.
- Explore how research can be applied in practice, disseminated, and used to make a meaningful impact within the sector and across members’ specialisms.
