We are pleased to invite you to an event that shares the results of our survey conducted at the end of 2024 on men’s mental health and well-being groups in Wales and invites attendees to discuss the findings and future areas of focus.

Male suicide is a serious public health issue. The UK suicide rate for men is more than three times that of women. Many state-funded mental health services are overwhelmed, leading to long wait times for help.

At the same time, there’s been growth in community-driven groups focused on men’s health and well-being. Even though these groups are gaining traction, there’s still little research on how they actually support mental health.

Our findings show that self-organised men’s groups are providing up-front emotional support, are emerging as a new feature of community-level mental health promotion and may help meet demand for formal services.
